It may look familiar, because I made it on a summer photography trip when I experiencedthe perfect light. During that trip I made many interesting photographs, images that revealed something special at just the right moment. This one, with its dark, deliberately edited character, fits naturally into my dystopian series.

My Dystopian series is built on contrasts. Many of the photographs were taken in bright sunshine, sometimes beneath a cloudless sky. That harsh, clear light is precisely what gives me room to create darkness in post-processing. Bright daylight becomes a sombre visual world, where structures speak, shadows expand and forms gain weight.

Long exposures are essential to this approach. They blend water and sky into smooth surfaces, take movement out of the moment and give the subjects a distant, almost timeless quality. The result is a stage for what fascinates me most: old, weathered structures, signs of corrosion and relics standing like monuments in the landscape.

This photograph shows exactly that. A massive form, marked by rust and weather, rises from the water. Its surface carries the traces of time; its shape looks like a fragment from another world.

Heute möchte ich euch ein weiteres Bild aus meiner Fotoserie „Dystopisch“ vorstellen.
