It is too early for that anyway. Weeks or months in advance, much of it is impossible to predict. Planning is about other things: How do I reach a particular location? How long is the walk? What are the tides doing along the coast? Where will the sun rise, and where will it disappear?<\/p>\n
Practical details matter, too.
\nIn Norway, many journeys involve crossing water. Ferries are part of everyday life, and their timetables often determine whether a place is accessible at all. Some locations can only be reached by those connections.<\/p>\n
And sometimes even that is not enough.
\nSome locations have no public access route. Then you depend on help from people who live there: fishermen, farmers, or local residents willing to give you a lift or allow you to reach a place. Making those connections is also part of the preparation, often long before the trip.<\/p>\n
But in truth, it is about more than destinations and planning.<\/p>\n
It is about those special moments out in nature. Bright nights when the sun barely sets. The rugged coast when wind and waves crash against the rocks.
\nSteep mountains, quiet fjords, and days when a storm suddenly changes everything.<\/p>\n
This photograph was taken on an evening like that.
\nOne of those bright nights when the light lingers over the landscape. The mountains stand quietly, the lake is still, and the sky is reflected in the water.<\/p>\n
In moments like these, everything slows down. You simply stand there, look out at the landscape, and remember why you keep returning to these places.<\/p>\n
Perhaps that is what I look forward to most. Not just new photographs, but all those quiet moments outdoors.<\/p>\n
The coming photography season does not begin with the first exposure.
