2. Visiting the website and hosting
When you visit this website, technically necessary connection data is generated. This may include your IP address, the date and time of access, requested pages or files, browser information, and technical status messages. This information is used to deliver the website, maintain security, and analyse errors.
The legal basis, where applicable, is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website). Server logs are stored and deleted in accordance with the hosting provider's operational policies once they are no longer needed for these purposes, unless other retention obligations apply.
Hosting and infrastructure providers are used to operate the website. Server locations and log retention periods depend on their configuration and contractual arrangements. If you have questions, you can contact me using the address above.
3. Contact form and email
When you use the contact form, your name, email address, subject, and message are processed. This information is needed to read and respond to your enquiry. The form is provided using Contact Form 7 .
Your message is forwarded to the website operator's email inbox and may remain stored there for as long as needed for communication, follow-up questions, or statutory retention requirements. Data is only stored in additional systems if those functions have been explicitly configured.
Depending on your enquiry, the legal basis may be Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual communication) or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (responding to other enquiries). Your contact details are not used for advertising or newsletters solely because you have made an enquiry.
4. Comments in the journal
When comments are enabled on a post, WordPress processes the comments you submit, your display name, and, depending on the settings, your email address, IP address, browser information, and the time of the comment. Processing is necessary for publication, moderation, and prevention of misuse. Comments and associated data may remain stored until they are deleted or their purpose no longer applies.
The legal basis is generally Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where consent is required for optional features, it is obtained separately.
To check suspicious comments, Akismet is installed and active. Comment and connection data may be transferred to Automattic. Further information can be found in the Akismet privacy notice.
5. YouTube videos
The films page links to and displays my own YouTube videos. When an embedded video is activated, your browser may connect to YouTube or Google. Usage and connection data, including your IP address, may be transferred, and cookies or similar technologies may be used. Data exchange is also possible when using the domain youtube-nocookie.com when the player loads.
Information about Google's processing of personal data can be found in its privacy policy. The applicable privacy and consent requirements must be observed when embedding external videos.
6. Email subscriptions through Jetpack
The website is connected to Jetpack / WordPress.com . This provides features for subscribing to new posts or comments by email. When you voluntarily subscribe, your email address, subscription status, and information needed for confirmation or account management are processed. The technical service is provided through Automattic or WordPress.com.
Where applicable, the legal basis for notifications requested voluntarily is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can end a subscription using the unsubscribe links provided in notifications. Sending a contact enquiry does not automatically subscribe you to a newsletter. More information: Automattic privacy policy.
7. Jetpack and audience statistics
Jetpack Stats has been temporarily disabled. No new page-view analysis is currently carried out through this function. If it is enabled again, Automattic may process technical visitor and connection data. Processing and possible transfers depend on the Jetpack feature being used. Provider information: Automattic privacy statement. Applicable consent requirements must be observed for non-essential statistics or tracking technologies.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
WordPress and activated plugins may use cookies or similar technologies, for example for login, security, comments, subscriptions, and statistics. Additional technologies may be used when external media loads. Strictly necessary functions may qualify for legal exemptions. For non-essential cookies and similar access technologies, prior valid consent is generally required under the Norwegian Ekomloven (Section 3-15). Information about the legal requirements is provided by the Norwegian Communications Authority, Kommunikationsbehörde Nkom.
9. Recipients, service providers, and international transfers
To the extent necessary, service providers may process data, particularly hosting and email providers, Automattic (Jetpack and Akismet), and Google (YouTube). External services may transfer data to countries outside the European Economic Area. The applicable data protection requirements and safeguards must be observed.
10. Your data protection rights
Under applicable data protection law, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and, where applicable, data portability. You may also object to certain processing. Consent can generally be withdrawn with effect for the future.
For enquiries, simply send a message to support@picturesofnorway.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority, particularly the Norwegian Datatilsynet.
11. Planned members area and WooCommerce shop
Photographs are not currently sold publicly through this website. WooCommerce and extensions for possible membership features are partly installed. If a shop, user accounts, or protected downloads are enabled later, this policy will be updated to cover the data actually processed, service providers, payment and shipping arrangements, and applicable legal grounds.
12. Updates
This policy will be updated when the services or features used on the website change, particularly if additional offerings, statistics or tracking services, or a shop are introduced.
