A small world becomes visible on the dark forest floor. Two mushrooms emerge in warm light, while almost everything around them disappears.
A Piece of Forest Becomes a World of Its Own
The light traces the delicate gills beneath the mushroom cap. The background recedes; shapes and surfaces command all the attention. These unassuming subjects interest me because they are easily overlooked in ordinary forest light.
Here, reduction determines the effect. A small illuminated area is enough to create depth, warmth and an almost mysterious atmosphere. The darkness is more than an empty background. It belongs to the composition.
