A Fixed Point

Moss-covered coastal rocks surrounded by silky long-exposure sea water

SELECTED WORK · FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY FROM NORWAY

A large rock stands among smaller, moss-covered stones beside the sea. The water looks soft and almost motionless.

What Remains When the Sea Grows Calm

The long exposure blurs the constant changes in the water. The stones, by contrast, keep their clear outlines. The fresh green on their surfaces provides a quiet counterpoint to the grey sea.

I am interested in the tension between something that changes constantly and something that seems to have found its place. The large rock gives the eye somewhere to rest. From there, the whole small landscape reveals itself: no grand gesture, just shapes, colour and time.

Behind the Work

The photography project "Stillness in the Water" shows how a considered exposure time and a reduced composition transform the coastal landscape.
