SELECTED WORK · FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY FROM NORWAY
A still lake lies between steep mountain slopes. The landscape is reflected in the water, while a few dark rocks in the foreground give the eye somewhere to rest.
Stillness Needs a Form
In black and white, the broad lines of this landscape come to the fore. The mountains lead into the depth of the valley, their reflections connecting sky and water. The softly rendered water takes some of the restlessness out of the individual structures.
I like the contrast between the weight of the mountains and the apparent lightness of their reflections. The eye wanders slowly through the photograph, returning again and again to the rocks in the foreground. The resulting calm comes from a deliberate arrangement rather than emptiness.
