The Grave

Some places have a particular energy, places where time seems to stand still. One of them is this ancient Bronze Age burial mound, around 3,000 years old. It once served as the final resting place of an important person or perhaps several people. Today it lies alone in the landscape, shaped by wind and weather, but still impressive.

The walk there was short, yet it set my thoughts travelling far. A strong wind shook my camera as I searched for the right perspectives. I wanted the photographs to convey the drama of this place with its long history. Yet the sky remained surprisingly calm, with only a few dark clouds.

So I let the weather speak for itself. Through deliberate underexposure and careful editing, I strengthened the mysterious atmosphere. The resulting images show not only the landscape, but also give a sense of the history stretching back thousands of years.
