Autumn does not begin with a date on a calendar. It begins quietly, in a fine veil of mist over the meadows, in a cool breath moving across the water and in that special light that transforms the morning.
Last weekend, I stood on the shore of a quiet lake. Mist lay like a veil across the surface, the mountains were reflected in the water, and the first light of day painted the landscape in soft colours. It was a moment of stillness, almost unreal, as though nature were holding its breath.
Autumn brings a depth of its own. The daylight hours are shorter than in summer, yet the light seems more concentrated, warmer and richer. Every moment carries a trace of transience, and that is part of its magic.
For me, this photograph symbolises that beginning. It tells of stillness, of transition and of the mysterious instant when a season takes its first step.

Allerfeinst, lieber Dirk!

Dirk
