It is bitterly cold here. The waterfall, normally so loud, has fallen silent. Frozen in motion, caught in mid-fall, as though someone had stopped time itself.
The ice sits heavy and blue in the shadows. Layer upon layer of water has gathered until flowing water became form. No spray, no rushing sound, no dripping. Only stillness.
The snow in the foreground looks untouched, almost timid. The rocks frame the scene like dark guardians. Between them hangs a frozen curtain of ice. Powerful and fragile at the same time.
But do you know what this photograph really says to me?
Not winter. Waiting.
There is still movement beneath the ice. Beneath the hard surface, the water keeps working. You cannot see it, but it is there. Patient. Unstoppable.
It is that quiet anticipation of what will come: the first drop, the first soft crack in the ice, the moment when the waterfall finds its voice again.
Here, spring does not announce itself with colours, flowers, or light.
It comes with a promise.
Nothing stays still forever. Even in the deepest frost, change is beginning.
Perhaps that is why I seek out places like this. They remind me that stillness is not an ending.
It is a pause.

Thanks a lot, John! The cold was intense that morning, but the silence made it worth it

In einem zugefrorenen See z.B.

Manchmal fehlt wirklich nichts. Man muss nur stehen bleiben und zuhören.
Herzliche Grüße
