Things have been a little quieter here over the past few days. Everyday life kept me busy, and my camera stayed at home more often than I would have liked. Last weekend, that changed.
I headed into Dovrefjell. After only a few steps, that familiar feeling returned. The sense of space.
There is little here to limit the view. No forests hiding the horizon. No houses.
Just gentle hills, stones, lichen, and a sky that never stops changing.
I love landscapes like these. At first glance, they can seem almost barren. The longer you stay, the more you begin to notice.
Light moves across the ground. Clouds cast their shadows over the land. The colours change from one minute to the next.
Photographically, it comes down to one thing: patience. It is not the landscape that changes. The light changes the landscape.
You wait. You watch. And eventually, for one brief moment, everything falls into place.
That is how this photograph came about. It shows no spectacular peaks. No dramatic waterfalls.
And yet, to me, it speaks of Dovrefjell. Of a landscape that has nothing to prove.
It is rugged, open, and honest.
Perhaps that is why I keep returning here. Not to find something extraordinary.
But to remind myself how good it can feel to have space around me.

Lieber Dirk,
die nordischen Fjell-Landschaften haben einen ganz speziellen Reiz, insbesondere bei Bewölkung, wenn die Szenerie spotartig ausgeleuchtet wird.
Viele Grüße, Horst -
A very beautiful location! ❤️
