It began on skis. The snow held firm, and the air was clear and bitterly cold. Every breath was visible. Temperatures were well below freezing, yet everything felt peaceful.
Later, I took off my skis. The ground was completely frozen, hard and smooth. Every step rang out on the ice. The landscape was reduced, almost graphic. The mountains stood in the first light of day. Sunrise came slowly. The peaks caught the light while the valley was still in shadow. Nothing moved.

Die Kälte nimmt jede Hektik. Die Stille ordnet den Blick. Das Licht spiegelt sich im gefrorenen Boden. Himmel und Erde scheinen sich zu berühren.
Winter mountains are not a backdrop. They have a presence of their own. Clear, quiet, immovable.
This photography trip was not an escape but a moment of reflection. A few hours in icy air, in the first light, surrounded by a stillness that stays with you.
There is also a video from this photography trip!

Thank you so much, John! Yes, it was definitely cold but sometimes the cold creates the most beautiful moments.

Dirk
