In the Soft Light

Autumn is not only a season of fading away. It is also a season of enchantment. When the sun stands low and its light breaks through the clouds, a very special moment appears: no harsh brilliance, only a gentle glow. The landscape seems to dream for an instant, still and composed, full of warmth.

I captured one of those moments in this photograph. The sun was low on the horizon, its light filtering through the overcast sky and settling over the landscape like a veil. The warm glow in the grass, the whisper of branches in the wind: all of this makes autumn one of the most emotional seasons for me.

To strengthen the atmosphere, I used the Orton effect. It softens the light so that it seems to glow from within. Contrast recedes and the scene feels quieter and more peaceful. It becomes almost like a memory rather than a documentary record of a moment.

I use this effect not simply to create a pretty picture, but to make the feeling of that moment visible.
For me, autumn is not a picture-postcard attraction. Autumn is a mood: light fading, warmth retreating. And in that retreat lies a special kind of romance, one that does not shout but lingers in the heart.

I also made a video about this photograph and many others. If you would like to see more of the autumn landscape, you can watch it here .

  1. Sehr stimmungsvoll.

Gruseleffekt eingeschlossen (könnten Halloweenfans was draus machen).

      Dirk
