On a cold, windy day, my hike took me over two mountains standing like guardians over the landscape. Between them lay a vast, empty plateau, a stretch of broken rock, rough and forbidding.
The wind cut sharply through the silence, sweeping sand and dust across the ground and making the cold feel even more intense. No visible life, no movement, only the constant sound of the wind.
It was as if the plateau had forgotten time, or were hiding something that lay asleep deep beneath the stones.
The light was muted, the sky heavy, and the few clouds looked like cracks in a broken surface.
There was a strange power in this barren landscape, raw and unyielding.
This photograph is part of my project Barren Landscapes, which explores remote, often forgotten places.
It is a project about silence and what remains when everything else has long since passed.
Every photograph tells of a natural world that has not changed because it never needed to.

Wow, this looks like a photo of Mars!

Yeah, it really felt like that. With the wind howling up there, it was as if you had stepped into another world.

Sehr gelungene WW-Aufnahme.
