Between What Was and What Is

The snow has disappeared, almost unnoticed. What remains is ground that can breathe again. Damp, dark, full of life.
The sun now stays in the sky longer, and its light has changed. In the mornings and evenings, a warm glow settles over the landscape. Soft, almost tentative.

I stood in front of this old wreck and felt as though it belonged somewhere in between. No longer part of the past, but not truly part of the present either.

The rust tells of what once was. Of use, movement, and a purpose.
At the same time, new life is growing among it. Grasses, flowers, little things claiming their space. Quietly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

And then there is a thought I cannot quite push away.

This does not really belong here. It is a foreign object in the landscape, something abandoned. And yes, it is also a form of pollution.
Yet a photograph emerges here all the same. Not because the scene is perfect, but because it is honest. Nature is taking back its space, without intention or judgement.

The light falls across everything, connecting what has passed with what is now beginning.
For a brief moment, it seems as though both can exist side by side.

Perhaps that is the moment when I raise my camera.
Not to show something, but to hold on to what lies between one time and another.
