I suspect spring is already in full bloom where you are. Here in northern Europe, however, it is still holding back a little. The nights remain cool, sometimes almost frosty, but during the day the sun is gaining strength and gently lifting the temperature.
Anyone looking at the landscape from a distance might think winter still has nature firmly in its grip. Everything looks a little grey and bare. But those who look more closely, who venture deeper into the forest, discover the first quiet signs of awakening.
Between old leaves and moss-covered ground, the first tender green shoots reach towards the light. Buds begin to open, and young growth stretches curiously towards the still-weak spring sun. These are quiet, almost insignificant moments, yet they hold tremendous strength and the promise of a new beginning.
Early one morning last week, I set out to capture precisely those fleeting moments. With my camera, I immersed myself in the year's first signs of life.
My small excursion into early spring nature became a quiet photographic project, a visual search for the first life cautiously but determinedly returning.
