Another chapter in my Dystopian series opens. This is the seventh photograph in the gallery. Once again, it was a sunny day when I took the picture, precisely the kind of light that makes many landscape photographers put away their cameras because it seems too harsh. Yet in that glaring daylight, I saw a chance to reveal something else: the transformation of an ordinary scene into an image full of weight, silence and suggestion.

Before me stood a monument to the many sailors who lost their lives to the unpredictable sea. A silent guardian, alone and motionless, with a presence that filled the space around it. Nobody stood beside it and no detail distracted the eye. The monument alone carried the story it represents. That isolation allowed me to shape the photograph so clearly. In editing, I could bring out the weight of the stone, the depth of the sky and what remains unspoken between light and shadow.

You could almost believe that the tower stands not only to remember, but also to warn. Its form points towards the darkness, a symbol of loss, the endless open sea and the power of an ocean that shows no mercy.

And so this photograph becomes number seven in my series. A quiet, mysterious stone form whose very presence tells a story, carrying the breath of the sea and the past in its darkness.
